Icon6 B16A in trouble

I have a JDM B16A that I've been running for about 6 years, and about 2 weeks ago it started smoking and burning oil really bad. I had a check engine light that turned out to be distributor related, and I fixed that problem but the oil consumption and smoking is still there. My car lays down a blue smoke screen every time I accelerate or decelerate like a 1972 hooptie wagon. It is using over a half quart of oil daily.

I did a compression test and all 4 cylinders are actually reading right at 240 psi (all within 1 or 2 psi of each other). They build up quick too, so my theory about rings, valves or the head gasket is out the window.

Anyone have a suggestion, or a similar experience?

A compression/leakdown test WILL NOT indicate the condition of the oil control rings.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

When was your last oil change? But in the event that there is something more drastic at hand...

A compression test is not as accurate as a leak down test. A leakdown test can help you determine where your problem rest in terms of whether its your piston rings, valves/valve seals, or head gasket. In the event that you don't have a leakdown tester available, one way to check your rings is to do a baseline compression test (just as you did) and try it again but pour a small amount of oil in the combustion chambers just before you run the test. If there is a significant increase in the reading then it is your piston rings.

PS. There is no such thing as a JDM B16A2. B16A2's are USDM.

Considering the volume of oil I am burning, do you think it is more likely to be the oil control rings vs. something like valve guides?

Thanks for the correction on my engine type...I know it is JDM because I had to flip the wiring harness when I put it in, but for some reason I always thought it was an A2. Maybe because it was supposed to have been out of an SiRII.
