Default B16a2 (SiRII) bolt ons

hey i will be doin a b16a2 (SiRII) swap in my 97 civic ex,but the swap will be an automatic..and car will be DD. but i know that the b16 has 160hp but that goes down to like 138hp to the wheel. i know about the basic bolt-on's like i/h/e but what other bolt-on's could i do to make a lil'more power out of it? this is my first B-series, so its a big step from a d16y8 for me..but ive heard stuff like a gsr head/ and ctr piston's etc..but what type of whp gains happen when the following is applied to a b16? thank's guy's for the help.

b16's dont really respond well to bolt ons. ctr pistons or a gsr head arent really a bolt on affair. try searching the archives for some setups and part reviews. I/H/E with a GOOD tune is as far as i would go if i wasnt planning on building the motor. power gains from bolt ons on b16's will be neglidgeable. you could always turbo the D you already have. the search function is your friend. good luck

I/H/E will give you a bit more power, but nothing to write home about (a few HP). That auto trans will kill any "performance" inherent in that motor anyways. IMO the best "upgrade" you can get would be a B16 or GSr trans. Or if you're a baller, an ITR.

IMO a gsr transa would be the best plan. ^^ as he said auto trans kill any thought performance wise. then worry about and intake or exhaust

the tranny that comes with the b16a2 (SiRII) is the stock jdm b16 autotranny. but could i even use a auto gsr tranny? and what do you mean "auto kills any performance wise"? you mean like it takes away hp? but turbo'ing the d series, i tried to but tuner's didnt want to mess with the auto tranny, plus it would only last for a 1 1/2 or soo if taken care of..but im not really looking for major whp just enough to have a lil'fun in and it is a dd.

Honda auto trannies are slow. They really suck. Seriously. The reason that they didn't want to boost your D-series with an auto also lends to that fact (well besides that it wouldn't hold up as well as a manual).

My suggestion would be a simple exhuast so that you can "sound" faster. Wasting hundreds on I/H/E for 1-3 HP is pretty pointless IMO. In the end though, it's your car, do whatever you'd like to it, we're just trying to help save you money.

oh i know..lol

but like i said earlier it's not 'REALLY" for performance just as an upgrade from a d16y8. but on my y8 i got i/h/e(open header) but can a dseries header from megan racing work with b16? i dont think it can just thought id make sure.lol but thank's for helpin out. but 138whp is a heck of alot better then 90whp..lmao but i think i'll have fun with it for a while. :0)

A D-series header won't work with a B-series engine.

An auto Honda tranny from that gen will lose you about 30% of the power from the crank, hands down. So on a healthy B16 with (almost) 160 to the crank, you're lucky to get 110 to the wheels. Not worth a swap even if you're only putting down about 85 to the wheels with the Y8/auto. You're just looking at a slightly faster slowness there.

Forced induction on an auto = trouble. Supercharged my D16Y8 auto @ 7 PSI a few years ago and blew the tranny within 7-8 months. 1 year tops if you're lucky. Any bolt-ons for a D/auto is a waste of money.

b16a sir II has 170 hp and best bolt on for your b16a sir 2 is a b16a sir2 manual tranny...if auto tranny wont last long if u boost it ....if u want to stick with auto tranny..keep the engine stock..

i've heard different. about the b16(SiRII) auto tranny, at 120whp for an auto. but you may be right. but like i said it's alot better motor the the y8. cuz jdm motors are a lil'bit different than usdm's but it's just a daily driver i dont see anyhting wrong letting an auto b16 breath a lil'better..But i think it will run just fine and i should be able to tell a differance. thanx guy's
