Default B16a2 in a 93 hatch check engine light

My check engine light comes on after driving a little. It's a b16a2 in a 93 dx hatch. I think it has the stock ecu. Not sure pulled the comp and no makings I can see where they wired in vtec. I did the paper clip method and my light just stays on. Any body know why this is doing that.

Any markings or labels on the sides? It's very important to know what ECU you have.

And I think it's a obd1 or obd0 but the motor and the wire harness is out of a 99-00 si cuz it has a intake sensor for the intake that connects to the duct to the air box. But doesn't have a 2nd o2 sensor

Try to get a OBD1 USDM B16 ECU. Or get a P28 and chip it with a stock B16 map.

The problem isn't the ecu. I've had it for a month or so the light comes on when I get on it hard. Car runs fine with this ecu. The problem is y is the code coming on. Codes off when I start the car after a while it comes on. When I check it with paper clip light stays on and shows no code.

Are you checking it after the light has come on, or are you turning off the car, then turning it back on to check the light?

On obd0 if the cel stays red the ecu is bad.

On obd1 if the cel comes on and stays on while car is running then you need to check for code buy jumping plug.

If light is not on during reg driving and you are just testing light, when you jump harness light will stay solid on dash if nothing wrong.
