Default B16a2 275-300whp reliably?

Okay so I've just picked up a 97 civic ex with a b16a2 swap and tranny in it.. Also has a p72 ecu and has been converted to obd1 already. I just got the car running great (it was a project) now I'm ready to start building it. I have been searching around and haven't found much info on the way I want my car built. I don't want to run too much boost at all like I said I'm after reliability. I was planning on building the motor for more boost than I'll put through it. Can anybody point me in the right direction? As of right now it's mostly stock other than a dc header and full exhaust system with a cold air intake

I wonder if this is a frequently asked question. I would assume so and based on that assumption I would check the Frequently Asked Questions sticky at the to of this sub-forum. Within that I would find section 6b. There also might be another sub-forum section on Honda Tech called Forced Induction. Probably a good place for me to check out as well.

If all else fails, Google.

Again, Section 6b.

IIRC the 'generally accepted limits' of a b16a engine is around tree hunnit and fiddy horsepowah. I wouldn't boost an unknown miles engine without ensuring it's in good condition with some tests. Compression, cylinder and port leakage, oil analysis, whatever else you can think of. I also wouldn't boost it without installing head studs, an oil cooler, replacing exhaust valve guides (after removing the head for the head stud installation), new rings and bearings, a hone, a new OEM oil pump, etc. That's just me, and I think that most people do disagree with pulling the short block apart just to slap on a turbo and double the horsepower.

Anyway, do all the maintenance, do some tests, boost it to two seventy five, you should be okay. Overbuilding is smart if you can afford it, install some rods and pistons and you could make 400 horsepower at the wheels and drive it for a long time.

In what way would that be? Saying reliably is one thing, but if I read that right there seems to be a certain way you want to build this. What way is this?
