Backfire noise b16a SirII HELP!
93 Del Sol b16a Sir II I/H/E
I am trying to determine what knock, detonation, predetonation, and overly rich and lean mixtures sound & feel like to the driver.
Can anyone describe the characteristics of each of these. This will help me pin point the issues I am having.
After warming the engine up and driving it pretty hard, only off the line the exhaust sputters until I let off the gas for a fraction of a second and put pressure back on the accelerator and the engine puls smooth to redline.
I only experience the sputtering symtoms in the first 1500-2000rpms it seems like the car is fighting going into vtec but once it does it wants to stay in high revmode the whole time the car is on.
I feel like my ignition is too weak and the fuel being put out isnt being burnt completely, I have a predictable weak backfire noise as the car settles when I let off the accelerator and under full acceleration or at any engine load above 4000rpm
is this bad or typical... what is happening?
I have a feeling the o2 sensors accuracy is degrading and the fuel mapping maybe off as a result? can this be true too?
