Default B16A SiR-II Gas question ?

im about to get the complete changeover from hmotorsonline for my 1994 Honda Civic CX HB and i wanted to know if i can still run the new engine on 87 or if i need to use 91 , will it run on 87 or will that harm the engine. i searched and i went to other forums and searched and there are many people who disagree , they say it runs on 87 just fine but with 91 or 93 it gets better performance... im not doing any drag at the moment im just daily driving for a few months so would 87 suit me ?

87 octane will cause detonations. If you run a chipped P28, it won't have a knock sensor to retard the timing if it does detonate. The P30 will have a knock sensor to retard the timing. 91 octane is recommended, but you can probably use 87 octane temporarily. So, if the knock sensor is in place, 87 octane can be used with a sacrifice of performance of course.

the swap comes with a p30 so do you think that would make it ok to use 87 for a few months ? or should i fill up on 87 and every once in ahwile top off tank with 91 ?

your ******* stupid if you run 87. Why run the risk when its barely lower in price. You save what maybe $1.00 each time you go to the gas station. Dont be cheap you idiot! But hey what do i know...

There's no need to flame, but yeah, Premium is only $0.20 more per gallon.

There is need to flame. Anyone who gets into the car scene should not even bring up this question. 91 will also give you more hp than 87...? Its common ******* sense. Its beyond me that someone would even consider this, when the total net savings is a god damn dollar!

Oh my God .30 ******* cents...jeeze thats like a huge dent in your wallet huh! Your question was stupid, you desereved a blunt answer. Why risk your motor to save around 5 dollars at each pump. Thats that dumbest thing i've evAr heard in my life. If your worried about saving money on gas you should not be modding your car...

i did search and i did read , if u read my post i said that i see many people areguing on whether it is better or whether it matters , i know it is only a few dollars you would save but when your not making alot of money at a crappy job then you save whatever you can, Blueintegraboy answered my question and im going to fill it up with 91 octane when i put gas in it , i was just wondering if it made a difference not which one is better, all the threads you pointed me too just have arguments all over.

Hmm Civic Si, GSR, ITR, S2000, NSX... all of these say PREMIUM FUEL ONLY!!!! right on the gas cap and gauge cluster.

Si Has a b16... hmm same engine as you I think you should use premium fuel since thats what it calls for.

If your worried about saving a few ******* dollars you should not be "wasting" money on your car. When i say wasting i mean you will never get it back. And if you're not making enough money go find a better god damn job! Dont come on here whining about your life...eat cup noodles or somthing!
