B16A with an odd sporadic reving problem
So my car does this reving thing when you get to 1.5k rpms but any other time it doesn't do this. It idles fine also and I've cleaned out the iacv to see if that did anything but nothing changed. I made a video of it so you can see exactly what i mean if you don't understand from the text. here's the link

I'm not sure what is wrong with it but any help is appreciated.
Oh I also thought of something else. The car is running pretty rich. I can smell a lot of gas coming out of the exhaust and in the oil as well. I can also smell a lot of gas out the oil breather on the engine. I'm not sure if that is important but I noticed that as well.

Re: B16A with an odd sporadic reving problem
I think you got you plugs reversed. The very very exact same thing happened to me. I had my plugs reversed looked at the appropriate color wire associated, switched them and pooof! check iat, iacv, etc. look at your Helms it will tell what color/colors wire/wires goes to what.

Which plugs exactly are you talking about? The swapped engine was not done by me nor anyone I know. This was originally a project car that the previous owner got rid of it because they ran out of time, money, etc. and I've decided to take it on as my project so I'm not sure what was done and how it was done, (I'm thinking the swap was done at Drag On Motorsports in Salem, OR although I do not know for sure). I do know that I don't think they did much right because there are about 5-7 plugs that aren't even plugged in. I'm not an expert on engine swaps by any means but I'd assume that most of the plugs if not all of them would be plugged in somewhere after you swapped an engine. There are also a lot more problems with the car that I could list but that's not related to this problem so I won't go into that. Anyways if you could point me to a link where it shows the plugs I need to look for or a diagram, something along those lines, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all the help.

I have some information that may be related to this. I'm not sure but I got to looking at my ecu and it's a p72. Is this ecu ok to run with a jdm b16a?

Gotcha, after some research that's what I was thinking also. : / not what I wanted to hear since I have no money to get one. Well if anyone wants to trade a P30 or a chipped P28 let me know. I'd be glad to trade you mine.
