i recently purchased a B16A motor..do i HAVE to get a cable tranny or is there any hydro trannys available for this motor?

the motor came with a cable tranny is what you're saying?? im prety sure it must be obd0... im also prety sure there are conversion kits... i know there is kits to go from hydro to cable

i have a 96 civic ek coupe...but i was told that the cable tranny is the only way to go unless i got the b16a2..

you already have a hydro tranny... stay with a hydro tranny...

the motor did not come with a tranny...i got it for $200.00 thats why i bought it...the stamp on it says B16A

you got a jdm b16a for $200 you are lucky... use the money you saved on the motor and order a hydo lsd trans...

yea i am..i'm just in the process of rebuilding it and going to port it out...
so this is a first gen obd1 motor? and it is possible to find a hydro tranny that would work?? if so do u kno the tranny code(s)?

most b16a's out there are obd0... i believe the tranny you are looking for is called a ys1 LSD

so do i have the jdm b16 w/168hp..or the usdm 159hp motor??

I got the same engine a couple weeks back you gotta 1st gen b16 if the head hasnt been changed and it says DOHC vtec that comes with a s1 cable tranny if it says dohc VTEC you have a 2nd gen and that is made for a hydro tranny which you will need for your 96 if you find a cable tranny and linkage you can still use it with your car you will just have to buy the cable/hydro conversion kit....hasport makes them check out their website. and if it is the DOHC vtec 1st gen its a JDM and its OBD0 there is no 1st gen b16

does that have to be all in one sentence??...and it absolutely made no sense

b16a is jdm and honda does rate it at 170hp, but if you're getting it from a car that's an auto, its probably gonna be 160hp
