B16a idle problems.....just a quick refresh! where to get IACV?
Hey guys tommorow im looking at a 93 integra with a swapped b16a in it. im pretty sure its an a2 or sir2 because the VTEC is larger than DOHC. heres a pic of the engine.
Anyways, its reving really bad at idle when you start the car. Previous owner had the CEL pulled and said it was the IACV needing replacement. Now id like to believe him but im somewhat skeptical there might be other problems.
I read the main thread here about idle problems and it mentioned the FITV but im really not that inclined to start ripping this guys engine apart to check all the valves haha.
Is there any other problems that might be causing idle problems besides the IACV or FITV?
What is teh average cost of these things and how much to replace. i did a quick google search looking for the part but i cannot find it. im sure yall have a better hook up on it here!
Thanks in advance!

Oh yea forgot the mention that when the car drives it has normal RPM and can rev up to 8000. but for some reason at idle it cant rev above 4000. once in gear and on freeway it revs normally.

damn no advice can be offered about IACV on a b16 i thought this was the right forum!
ive done my searching i just want to hear from some of you guys of what to look for.
So far i know it could either by the IACV, FITV, or maybe a loose vaccuum hose.
but i read it might also be gaskets? is there a good way to visually check the gaskets??

i just took my iacv off and cleaned it and it helped alot on the idele problem i had. it was fluctuating between 2000rpm and 1000rpm and i cleaned the carbon out of the valve and it almost stopped the idle fluctuation now it only fluctuates 100 rpms total..mine only did this once the motor warmed up also

just look to see if its done right, like theres no random wires, and it doesnt look like it was randomly throne in there, make sure its a b16 by looking at the stamp on the block

As for the other issue could be a bad or dirty IACV, Fast idle thermo valve, or it could just be low on coolant or air in the cooling system.

yea checked this car out, realy loved the body because it had jdm headlights and nice other things.
but the motor is not bar'd and wont pass smog. the ecu is chipped as well.
so i passed on it, and today i picked up a 92 GS coupe with 83k on a b18a1. not vtec but oh well. im gonna run this motor into the ground and eventually swap a b18c1.

yea its just too many decisions...
idealy i want a completely stock gs coupe with a nice motor swap from a 96+ gsr.
the car i picked up today still needs lots of work, but i saw so many integras on there in similar shape.
basically im gonna be dropping about a grand more this week for seats, coils, and some new wheels etc....
