B16a cranks but no start.
I swapped out my b18b1 for a jdm b16a in my 96 hatch recently and it ran fine. While I have been waiting for my chipped p28 to come in the mail, I had it running on the LS ecu.
I've been doing body work so the car has not seen the road for more than a 1/4 mile (trips to the stop sign and back).
After I installed my wideband (using this guideline: http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com...ego/index.html) I had the car idling so as to charge the battery a bit when all of a sudden it backfired hard and shut off. It sounded like a grenade went off under my car.
Tried starting it again and it just cranks and cranks. no start. I have spark, fuel and compression across all four cylinders.
I received my p28 today and I plugged it in after removing the wideband completely. Crank but no start. Now its throwing a solid check engine light telling me that the ecu is "bad".
My spark plugs are saturated with fuel as is my oil so those are both being replaced tomorrow. For the time being, does anyone have the slightest inclination as to what could have gone wrong and why the CEL is telling me that my ECU is bad?
