Default B16 tranny

I know that the B16 tranny has shorting gears than the B18s but is there any advantages over using one in a GSR hatch? I'm trying to settle something with a guy I know. I figured a B16 tranny, the same thats used in the Si, was very close to that used in the GSR.

I know your speed limit is not 80, so you shouldn't be there in the 1st place.

What is the debate about between the b16 and GSR tranny? Economy, NA, boost, all around performance, durabilty? As far as performance goes, I am 99% sure the b16 transmission is the same as the ITR transmission with exception to the final drive. The ITR being a sought after transmission is a good way to settle a performance gearing debate. The GSR is in fact longer than the b16, both on the same engine the b16 transmission isn't going to rape the GSR, but it is going to win in a 1/4 view point.

This is from the FI forum, but read through this, there are also a few other archived ones that should help you out as well. Need numbers of the gearing?

Shorter gears will allow for better acceleration.
