I have a B16a swap in my 90 crx dx and it runs great when its cold, however once it gets warmed up it begins to run like crap. It boggs down when I hit the gas, and it blows out black smoke from the exhause and theres a coating of unburned fuel on the back of my car. The warmer the car gets the worse it gets. It doesnt overheat or anything it just runs real bad. I am throwing a code for knock sensor and I have checked it a few times and there seems to be nothing wrong with it... plus it wouldnt make my car run this bad. Once the car is warmed up and I stop driving, or shut the car off... then go to hit the gas or start the car it gets really bad. I can push the gas all the way to the floor and all it does is rev at a constant speed for a little while and then all of a sudden like something starts to work it revs right up. But once it goes back down in rpms the car is really hard to get the rpms back up. I was getting 6mpg then for a while I started to get like 12-15 and now I think its back down to 6mpg. I have started to put lucas injector cleaner in, because I have heard that, that is a good product. I felt a difference the first time I put it in, but the second time it started to act bad again. I have 2 ecus and they both do the same thing everything is hooked up properly so I dont know what the problem could be. Does anybody have an idea?

There is a serious problem that needs diagnosed immediately. Its one thing if you get 18 mpg in a B16, which is bad...but 6 mpg?!?! First of all, its probably running so pig rich, your O2 sensors are about shot. Have you checked the MAP, TPS, IAT sensors? You need to go to a local shop and leave it to them. Otherwise, have fun getting 60 miles to a tank of gas.

I had my O2 sensors changed, got a new map sensor, and cleaned my iacv. I dont know what else to do. It sucks, it started to get a little better when I put the injector cleaner in, then it just went downhill from there.

dont know if this would help but did u check timing? ingnition timing and cam timing. maybe u skipped a tooth. check cap, rotor, plugs, wires. maybe there is a wire u are missing witch is causing all this

I had a mechanic put the motor in and replace the timing belt and it has been checked after the car was run for a while and its all lines up perfectly as for the cap rotor and plugs and wires, I put a brand new dizzy on, and plugs and wires.

ur probably running too rich. have u checked the timing urself. i know when i did the timing belt on my ls and was off i would step on the gas and i would not rev pass 2k rpms and than after a while i revved all the way up.

if ur knock sensor is good and ur throwin the code dumbass think ur motorsknocking, seems like ur burning oil, runnin rich, i have to be there to diagnois it, when something is wrong why do kidss always go straight to a shop? i used to work at a shop and wee dont do anything different we just start replacing **** and btw u get ripped wayyyyy off for stupid ****

I just ordered a vtec subharness and when I get it I'll let you know how it goes.

Your car is running rich due to the check engine light. Fix that first.

I have delt with the obd0 b16s a bit and check engine light wont make it bog down like you are saying. The tps was making it run pretty rich at one point(black smoke) so I recalibrated that and it helped. It was throwing the same code 23 knock sensor code and it still is to this day and it runs fairly good. I would check the map sensor and the vaccum lines running to the map sensor first off.

Vtec does engage and I have checked the vacuum lines and replaced the map sensor for a known good one. I just ordered a vtec subharness so then I know all of my solders are good.
