b16 problems
i put a b16a2 in my 95 civic coupe
i used the stock d16z6 harness and p28 ecu
motor starts up...but idles very high and wont go past 5500 rpm
idles at 3500-4000 up and down
ived replaced the tps sensor.....checked all vacuums checked firen order..timing
nothing seems to work
now ive had some people tell me maybe its the gsr cams i have in it..which i plan to replace with the b16a2 stock cams tomorrow
i got the motor off a guy who was running turbo but his reason for gettin rid of the motor was tuneing was too much for him
a few ppl told me maybe he never could get the valve train settings right but i really dont see how that would mess with the idleing but i could b wrong
please repost with any info on what it could be

Re: b16 problems (Dr_Suess)
I had the same problem with my B16. You should go back over the vacume lines and make sure that they all go where they are supposed to. Does it constantly rev up and down without your foot on the gas? That is what mine did. To fix it I started the car and just messed aroud with the hose's till I finaly got it right. I did get a vacume diagram but even with it all hooked up like it was supposed to be it still did the same thing.

What does it do at 5000? Fall on it's face but continue to rev SLOWLY like it's dying from it or just plain rev limiter type action? Does it go Boxer mode and you can almost hear each cylinder firing? Exactly what happens man?

sounds like rev limiter hard to tell because its open header right now just did the swap and header doesnt meet the cat but it sounds like a rev limiter

Re: b16 problems (Dr_Suess)
may seem like a dumb question but do you have a map sensor hooked up?? when you changed the motor over you should have got one that mounts to the firewall. i unplugged mine once and the motor reved to about 5 grand and just help there. if not good luck man

No check engine lights? Did you add and lengthen the wires to the stock harness correctly? Its definatly in limp mode, but now you gotta figure out why.

Re: (JDM_Ej)
it could be hitting a revlimiter because of a automatic ecu, it happend in one of my cars... but im sure you were right on the money with it... also, the revving up and down, I know you fixed it but most of the time its from the IAC valve... Sometimes the harness plug is friend and you have to hardwire it to the tower plugs, or you couldve had the plugs for the TPS and IACV switched because they are both identical... but good look on everything...
