Default B16 blocks

is there any difference between a B16a block and a B16a2 if so what is it

blocks should be the same, if u are asking because u want to swap blocks you will be fine. There may be a slight difference in compression due to pistons being usdm or jdm but i believe they are pretty much the same.

im trying to find another block so i can start a motor build and i found one for 50 bucks and its a b16a and i have a b16a2 in my si i was just wondering what the difference was if there was any at all

It will work for what you want to do. theyre pretty much the same as i stated earlier. Only difference would be the pistons and i believe the jdm motor doesnt have a knock sensor but someone will have to chime in cause im not sure.

im not to worried about the compression or pistons because im going to bore it out and sleeve it

I think most of the differences are in the head and intake manifold. But as far as the block goes, I think egvtec is right.

Go for the b16a block if thats what u want then your good to go. I know it will work, ive done alot of block head combos in my time...

The knock sensor can be added if you drill and tap a bracket. Don't just bypass it, it's one of the sensors the ECU needs to have to protect your motor.

egvtec is right. you're fine doing with what you want to do. most of the differences come with the head and itake manifold. and if you have an em1. you have a b16a3 not a2
