b16 7200 rev limit
have a obd1 b16a w/ jdm p30 in a 94 ex
i was getting early vtec and 6500 rev limit NO CODES EVER
hmotorsonline replaced my ecu, still did the samething
well i end up adjusting the tps because the voltage was high
took it out vtec now kicked in at 5200 are but rev limiting at 7200
what the hell is it?

i had this same problem in my gsr. it had a chip that redlines at 8200, but sometimes redlines at 7200. it was on the floor when it redlined at 7200 but when i mounted it, it stopped and now redliens at 8200.
it sounds crazy but maybe its true.

yeah, maybe that's the problem and not so much the engine. try picking up a manual one, or one that comes for vtec, or hell, see if a friend has one and swap it out just to see what it does.

there are a couple possibilities
1) your tach is WAY off. you are actually at 8000 but its not showing that on your tach
2) you have an ignition problem. something like a weak coil can cause a rev limit in rare cases but its usually not a constant limit. meaning sometimes it would be 7000, sometimes 7500, etc.

Thats what I say it is. I put a ex cluster in my old dx hatch and it would say my rev limiter was 4500 then I put the ls swap in and it did the same.
