B series head bolt size
Okay what size is the stock B16 head bolts? Its weird, cause I tried a 12mm 3/8th which fit pretty good, but of course I cant loosen head bolts with a 3/8th, I tried a 1/2 12mm deep socket and it barely even fits in the hole, let alone grab onto the bolt.
So will a 1/2in 12mm non deep socket work?

For stock head bolts, yes, you should be using a 6 point socket, non-deep well. Always use the right tool for the right job. You should be able to remove it just fine with a 3/8" ratchet. If you can't, just get a couple feet of lead pipe to slide over your ratchet. Boom, instant breaker bar.

Stock B16A head bolts are 14mm 6-point headed...
Last Friday morning, I removed a B16A2 head from the shortblock using a Craftsman 3/8" 14mm 6-point deep well socket with a 3/8 -> 1/2" adapter and a 1/2" breaker bar. Easy Peasy.

Re: B series head bolt size
Okay thanks guys, and I made a mistake, I was using 14mm the whole time. I don't have any lead pipe laying around, I do have a 1/2 breaker bar but not the socket to match it. So I'll just buy the non deep 14mm. The motor is sitting on this tall *** desk, taller than me, so I need all the leverage I can get.
