B&M SS + ES Bushings *WARNING*
I installed a B&M short shifter w/ES bushings on my del sol today, it was pretty easy EXCEPT:
The energy suspension bushings that are used on the extension rod where it connects to the tranny are too big. They don't fit in the ring at the end of the rod. I had to use sandpaper and slowly sand off about 1-2mm of polyurethane from the bushing in order to get them to fit.
It could just be that the linkage on a del sol is different from that of a civic, but they listed my car on the package either way.
Anyone else had a similar problem with this? Or did I just get a freak batch of bushings?
BTW, I love how it feels, clicks right into gear; feels like my dad's S2000 now....

del Sol shift linkage is different between s, si, and the VTEC model.
The VTEC shift linkage uses the same bushings as the GS-R, Type R, and EK Si.
The S & Si use the same bushings as any other non mentioned Civic.

Re: (Hater)
Well, those definitely did not fit at all.
btw...the B&M is actually a couple centimeters taller than the stock shifter.
However the throw is much shorter....just clicks right into gear...
Now I have a spare OEM Del Sol Si shifter (shorter throw than that on a 96-00 ex) Any takers?

no no they are the right ones. i had the same prob. took me 3 ******* hours to get the stabilzer end back on the tranny. mine were too wide and it expanded the u shaped bracket so much that the bolt would not thread into the welded on nut on the other side. its like you know exactly what im talkin about. btw, even with my stock shifter its crisp. but im sure your shifter is crisper. i feel your pain on the install my fellow del soler. try adding the whole es kit. lol now thats a bitch. 3 solid days of nothin but impact wrenching, sledgehammering, torching, and sawzalling the crap out of my suspensin and its old bolts and bushings. gotta love 10 years of rust for holdin those bolts tight lol

Re: (RedDelSol si)
PRESS is a effin understatement for what I had to do to get those bastards to go in. I was thinking about getting the ES motor mount inserts but now I'm kind of skeptical...I can't imagine I'd ever be able to force those in if I had this much trouble with the stupid little stabilizer bushing.

Re: (elevatethis)
the motor mount bushings drop right in without force, unless you don;t have the right ones. installing the master kit is a bit of a pain, but worth the trouble.

why would you attempt that without a press? my friend and i did the entire master kit plus some struts and springs on my car in 5 hours. easy. get a press and save yourself a shitload of stress.

Honestly, I've done 10 of these things and NEVER had any problem. You can grease the bushing up with the included lube, and it ******* twists right in with little force. Either they resized the bushings for no reason recently, or there is something you guys just are NOT doing correctly..
