Azenis in the rain...
Well the alternator on my beater/daily driver went out on me last night so I was forced to drive my hatchback. I was kind of scared to drive because it has been raining a lot in my area and from what I have read Falken Azenis suck in the rain.
Well from my experience today, the Azenis aren't bad at all. No hydro-planing or anything. My tires are fairly brand new and was broken in properly.
The place that mounted my tires (AutoFix in San Carlos) says that they are excellent in the rain . He autocrosses with them regularly in his AE86.
BTW I was traveling about 65-70MPH in the carpool lane.
I just wanted to let everyone know that Azenis are not bad in the rain.
Tom, feel free to move this in whatever forum you want

Re: Azenis in the rain... (one-syk)
i read in the Auto-X forum that you have to drive on them for a couple of days and then take them off of the car. Place each one in a big garbage bag and seal it for 24 hours. You have to remove the first 1/32 layer of the tire. Something about heat cycle. It helps it last longer.

heat cycling is for "R" compound tyres, Kuhmo victoracers, A032R's, etc. Azenis all you have to do is just drive them normally for 300 miles ish.
Azenis do suck in the snow tho..

how bad was it raining? My 195/60-14's are fine in the rain, but standing rain is a whole differnt story. I dont even half to be driving like a stunner. Just 50mph on I-205 in standing rain and I'm hydroplaining. If the road is wet but its not heavy then I'm fine. Thats my experience with them

Re: Azenis in the rain... (B_Cruz)
agreed ... I drive them a lot in the rain.
If someones think it sucks in the rain, then they should slow down.
As for break in the tires:
I had a roadtrip to US right after I got my azenis.
All I did was:
continous driving on highway for two to three hour to put in heat.
pull into gas station to cool tires, fill up,eat, go to washroom... etc.
continue until I reach Portland and back.
Which was 15 hours worth of driving, all done in a 36 hours time period.
