axle nut with a torque wrench?
O.k. who has broken loose an axle nut w/o air tools? I have been trying for an hour. I've only done it with air tools before, it was taken off less then 7000 miles ago. Torque wrench is not cutting it WTF

dude, are you trying to break your torque wrench?!!?! Use a big *** breaker bar, with a pole over the end, keep the wheels on, and the car on the ground.

It shouldnt be too hard. Just get a 2 ft breaker bar. That usually get a standard civic or integra axle nut out with ease, on preludes its a little harder. If that doesnt do the job then bust out a 5 foot breaker bar. If you cant break it with a 5 ft bar then you need to hit the gym.

. and dont be afraid to throw a 5 foot pole over the end of the breaker bar, that **** works like butter. also try using some pb blaster if the nut is all rusted and nasty looking

seriously, NEVER loosen a nut or bolt w/ a torque wrench, it will either break it or screw it up, making it inaccurate for tightening nuts or bolts in the future.
Breaker bar and cheater pipe is where it's at.

breaker bar has always gotten off the axle nut. dont use your torch wrench. if u did use it i would go somewhere and have it checked out to make sure its still accurate other wise u have to get it recalibrated

basicly what everyone else said.
Put the wheel back on and pop the center cap out. This way you should be able to fit the 32mm socket on the nut. Have someone Hold the brakes, plus you have the friction of the tire on the ground, so the wheel shouldn't move.
Now use trq =Fxr on your side. If your applying 100lbs of force to a ft long breaker bar, then your only applying 100ftlbs. Now if you apply 100 lbs to a 10 ft cheater bar, your now applying 1,000ftlbs.
Physics Own.

Re: (asmallsol)
Ahhh, you all are ******. No need for a breaker bar. I used a standard 3/8th drive ratchet with a 19mm closed wrench on the end. Broke her right loose. You sure you going to the left? Lefty loosey righty tighty!
