Automatic Transmission Service - 1998 Civic
Hi. I'm about ready to do a fluid change the Service Manual says to make sure the car is on level ground. I was going to put it on ramps to get underneath. Obviously then it won't be level. Will that be a problem? I was planning on just draining from the drain bolt and refilling. No plans to do a full flush.
Is just a simple draining and no flush still good?
Thanks
Roger

Re: Automatic Transmission Service - 1998 Civic (Spade)
thanks. One more question, must I use Honda ATF or can I use any DEXRON III fluid? I ask because the local costco has a 12 qt box of I think Castrol ATF for $13. I have a Subaru that I would use the fluid for as well.
Thanks again.

Manual trannies only need 1.5 quarts.
I cannot imagine an Automatic needed a box and I don't see a point in buying a box of that stuff if you only have to change the fluid every 30,000 miles.
