Automatic gearbox on b20vtec (noob questions)
Before anybody shoot me just get a manual..
i knw manual is the best and i going to replace at the future..
But now i stick with my automatic while saving money for a manual..
Okay heres the question.
It drive n shifting gear okay.. From 1 to 4.. But problem only happen when full throttle (pedal to Medal when the rpm reach max rpm i using p28 ecu rpm cut at 8.5k) there is a slightly delay like 2 or 3 sec before engage next gear.
Pardom my English hope everyone's knw what i try to say.
Thanks

Re: Automatic gearbox on b20vtec (noob questions)
If I recall, the automatic is a 4 speed automatic. So it's the torque converter lock up that you are referencing if 1-4 is working fine.
Lock up occurs for fuel economy and when you romp on it, it unlocks and drops back to normal 4th gear. It's not surprising it's not engaging immediately when red lined and floored (pedal to the metal).
Personally, I'm surprised a P28 (D series ECU) is operating a B series automatic without issues. I know on D series the ECU TCM controls 4th gear and the Lock up functions. Be happy it's working at all.

Re: Automatic gearbox on b20vtec (noob questions)
One curiosity is, does the b series transmission operate the same as d series with 1-3 being hydraulically/mechanically controlled and 4th and lock-up being TCM controlled?
This is the other assumption I had as OP did say 1-4 seemed to work normal"ish"ly. And the lock-up also seemed to operate fairly close to design.
