Autolamps H4 Hylow Philips Ultinon HID kit w/99-00 OEM CTR headlamps (no 56k)
I got the philips H4 kit Wednesday (it was shipped from England on Monday ) its unbelievable. I have had HIDs in my old 2000 GSR (philips 4300k) & had philips ultinons (h3) in my old '97 Civic's aftermarket Projectors. This is kit is BY FAR tTHE BEST HID kit I have ever used/seen. I installed with the lights OEM CTR headlamps (thanks B18c1_powered_si) which are slightly different from USDM headlamps because there is NO reflector in the housing (ie you can see a whole bulb in the housing) I also used aftermarket turn signals and yes the ultinons are 6000k so I must be a RICER BTW this is the same kit as Apex_i_ITR- now for the good stuff - pics
the headlamps
The shield you see here is part of the kit - normally there is no shield in OEM CTR headlamps
look Ma - no amber bulbs
daytime
EDIT: daytime pics are not up anymore - i forgot about my plates
night-time cutoff - 1st pic you can see a slight halo thats a complete half-circle (pic cam out a 'lil dark)
good pic showing frontal coverage
blurry but....(frontal area pics where no on flat pavement....so you don't get the best idea of how far you can really see ahead of you - I will work on better pics)
and last but not least - don't get caught beneath the cutoff
if anyone buys a "Hylow" kit from http://www.hid-online.com / http://www.autolamps-online.com you need to switch the diodes - blue wires go into white wires & white wires go into blue... (you need to actually see the parts in order to explain - I will take pics soon) also more pictures (on roads) coming soon
this kit produced results (in terms of area lighting & cutoff) closest to OEM HIDs i have ever seen...these pics don't do it justice IMO

The kit sounds nice and the results look pretty good for an H4 setup, but there still appears to be a good deal of scatter in this pic:
Edit: Not criticizing, just an observation. The pattern is probably as good as can be expected on an H4 retrofit.

I think that if I had a standard shield in the housing (like USDM OEM) it would cut most of that out...that scattering you see is really not that bright at all - you can barely see it in the pic just below the one you showed - & yes for a non HID housing - thats about as good as it gets IMO

on a side note - i did try to use my old H3 HIDs in OEM 99-00 foglights but the ignitor portion on the bulb (from the h3 base on back) was too big for the fog light housings. Unless you heavily modified the metal base/housings by cutting out the back of the foglight & cutting a hole metal braket that holds the foglight

Re: (ChadB)
i just got my CTR lights and put in Hella Ballast HID's which im going to do something different with. your setup looks good, i have casper shields now and my cutoff is a bit more flat than yours but i have more scatter since i have no upper shield.

Re: (chameleon)
chameleon brought up a good point - autolamps has a regular (low beam only) HID kit that would provide a more even cutoff & probably a 'lil less scatter. For where I live I decided I really wanted highbeams.
I paid about $615 for the kit (4300k is cheeper & so is low only)

see here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=639146&page=2 for "Apex_i_ITR" light output (using aftermarket housings that came w/ a clear lense & a reflector shield in the housing ) It looks like there is less scatter but also 'lil less light output. this is VERY difficult to judge from his picture & my picture (different cameras, different distance from the wall, etc....)Personally I am happy with my results & I believe he is happy with his
EDIT: maybe when I have some free time I will install the HIDs in my OEM dx housings & take comparison pics - & the reinstall the CTR headlamps (@the same exact spot) & take more pics

I've got the low only kit from them in my CTRs, and my cutoff, and beam pattern look an awful lot like yours. Do you have a few "hot spots" in the top of the beam pattern though?

I'll be taking pics in a few days now that I can get my hood open (hood cable snapped).
