Auto to 5spd converion? difficult?
would a 94 civic SI tranny bolt up to a 92 DX motor? and if so....what other parts would be needed to complete the swap.
the obvious:
-clutch
-ecu
but what else?
also, if I was to get a b series motor to put in it instead....and if I used a hydro to cable converter, would I need to buy any extra parts besides the normal parts needed for a hydro to cable conversion?
thanks

yeah it can be done, its more a pain in the *** than difficult. A lot of little things add up in this project, I think its more hassle than its worth.

Well, im not sure about that. From what I've seen around my area, you can get EG and CRX automatics about $1000 cheaper then their manual counterparts, and if you get a good deal on a tranny and do the swap urself, you could actually be saving yourself some money. Not to mention that honda automatics can't handle big numbers..

I'd did it and it wasn't that hard if you arnt afrade to do a little custom work around the shifter. I agree thought that the hardest part is getting together all the parts, i was lucky and had a donor car that i could pull everything from.
When i bought the auto hatch i had the benifit of knowing thati didnt give a f@$k that is was an auto, they guy that was bidding against me (local auto auction) probally had the plans of keeping it as is the same day i bought mine there was another hatch that was a manual that was basicly the equivelent to the auto and it went for almost 3k but i got mine for $1600

Re: Auto to 5spd converion? difficult? (bikeboy80)
I just did my 93 honda civic Hatch Dx auto to manual ,
actually it was very easy and was done in approx. 8 hours ( it was my 1st auto to manual ) If you like email me and I can get you pics of what I did and what you will go through ... The hardest part is puttin in a trans hehe and thats easy :D
Oh when ever you look into doing this swap . No where will tell you , you need to custom make your upper trans mount . Its easy tho ...
As for the shifter all I did was drill 2 holes where the back bolts of the automatic shifter sat and that was the bolts for the linkage to bolt up to ...
every thing else is bolt in ..
The other hard part for me was bleeding the clutch line , because I had to pump then run out and release the air .. then run back in and pump pump pump lol
