im gathering up the parts for a tranny swap, and im wondering if jacking up the car hella high and supportting it with jack stands will do the job. But im not to sure. Would i need a lift to get the tranny out.

i THINK you can support eh tranny with like a skateboard or something and then unbolt it from the car and then jack the car up and pull the tranny from the bottom.

how about you just pick the tranny out of the bay like i did. its not that heavy man, but if it is have a friend push it up from the bottom and you pull it out of the engine bay

Im not to sure how you could pull it from the engine bay unless you plan on taking out engine.
Im doing my tranny either this weekend or next and im just going to put car on jack stands and just put the jack under the tranny cause i could give a **** less if the tranny breaks on its way out cause it wont even move at all.

Can someone tell me if i need to remove my tires when taking the hood off?? Im jsut playing...you can support the weight of the tranny with an old tire or us the jack under the tranny to support and just lift it out of the engine bay. I think it weighs about 30-40lbs. Just make sure you unbolt and unplug EVERYTHING... You dont want to drop it after all this tech advise

Are you being serious that the tranny only weighs that little. Hope to get mine out this weekend and if I do then id be tempted to put it on a scale to see how much a cvt **** weighs

rotflmfao!!
Anyways... if you have enough room under the car and it's supported high enough on jackstands you can put a floor jack under the tranny just make you you put a piece of wood between them and roll it out. I have a friend just put a clutch in his car and thats what he did. Also heard the you should support the engine with a jack too but he didn't do that and said it only dropped like maybe an inch.

just drop it straight down...there's no way you're gonna lift it out of there...no room.
It's not like you're using the tranny again, and auto trannies weigh much more than a manual tranny.
Just unbolt, support the engine, and let the tranny drop

the auto tranny weighs A TONS more than the 5 speed tranny
