Auto 00 EX to OBD-1?

I was wondering if you could use a obd-2 to obd-1 adapter and run a auto obd-1 p28 on a 00 Civic EX auto?

It's my wifes car and our daily driver so I drive it alot. I've driven 92-95 EX's that shift at redline and downshift alot quicker and just seem more responsive than her car. I figure a auto p28 would be cheap and the harness is not too bad so for less than $300 I may try it sometime.
