Default Apexi Filter, kit or filter?

I want an Apexi filter for my 97 ex. Can i just get the air filter or should i go with the kit?
Will the filter alone mount to my stock intake pipe/tube?

you need the kit. the filter bolts to the adapter, so you cant use a hose clamp or anything.

the gain is in the filter design. My friend Installed it on his GSR, and there was a gain, at least as much as your gonna get from an intake. Its quiter then other intakes because you don't have an aluminum pipe reverberating the noise. I find those intakes often are too loud, this one mixes with the exuast perfectly for good sound, while maintaining the factory tuning of the intake pipe. (why replace it, its not like a metal pipe flows more air then the factory pipe.)
That video is my car. I have a B16 throttle body and intake pipe on there. I won't be able to tell you about gains, since I've built the engine with cams, compression etc etc, and my first test drive will be with all of it together.

Is this intake washable or cleanable? If not how long does it last? Is it like the HKS intake that only last 10k miles?

An aluminum tube flows better than the factory because if you look inside the factory tube there are grooves.

Also, you CAN hear VTEC on a sohc, it just doesn't "scream" as loud as a B.

thos grooves are really not going to effect anything really, not on a 1.5 or 1.6 liter. Look at the throtle body, were talking about a bigger restriction and turbulence there.

Its not cleanable, I dunno how long it last, just call a retailer and ask all these questions.
