K&N air filter replacement
hey guys, when i go to get a K&N filter at AutoZone they don't come with the rubber piece that you clamp to the intake pipe. I have a generic intake and I just want to replace the crappy filter with a K&N. So in this instance, how would i go about clamping this thing on to the intake pipe?

u sure you're getting the right filter? If you're talking about the COUPLING, then they sell some at your local Home Depot or Hardware store

You are replacing the bootleg air filter with a K&N piece? If so, if it's a cone-type filter, just get yourself a large diameter hose clamp that can go around the filter's base and tighten it onto the intake pipe.

if yuor gettin a cone style filter jsut match it up to the diameter of your piping for yuor intake and they sell larger couplers there. theyre usually in the "import"/"ricer"/"type-r" section but they work.

Find out what size the intake is (3" or 2.75, 2.5, 2.25, etc).... and get a conic filter (K&N brand if you like) that has the same size coupler .....take it in with ya if you have to. Should have a few different ones...and find the biggest one that'll fit under your hood and will fit the intake pipe.

I'm pretty sure k&n cone filters come with the black rubber piece already attached. It's one whole piece. Get one ith an inlet diameter the same as your intake piping and it'll slide over the intake pipe. Then use the hose clamp over the filter to secure it.
