Is anyone running a stock b20 in their car?
I noticed a lot people are going vtec with their b20b/z. I would like to go with the stock head with a gsr transmission for daily driving (for now). Is anyone running a similar set up? Which flywheel/clutch kit should I go with that will cooperate. Also, whats this I hear about changing the b20 cams/cam gears with Ls? Fill me in if you can . I started off this year with a bang, I have a busted wrist from snowboarding and im cursing after every word I type lol, not a happy new year so far

Well a friend of mined had a stock b20 in his integra with all stock parts including clutch and flywheel before he did the vtec head and many other modifications. I took it for a drive and the clutch felt fine

I have a stock jdm b20b with an ls tranny and clutch as well as intake manifold. the clutch is fine, doesnt slip at all. the tranny is not as close as a gsr tranny but it is similar. the ls tranny gives me a bit better gas mileage. everything else is stock, flywheel, clutch, tranny, etc. it works well for me and great for a dd. hope this helps.

I have a b20z and I plan on changing the intake manifold with an Ls intake manifold as well. As far as clutch and flywheel goes, I need to buy a set up. The oem clutch and flywheel for a b-series swap will probably cost as much as an aftermarket set up but is that the best way to go? I am a huge oem fan when it comes to parts and accessories so dont think im hating on the oem clutch kit. I would think the better choice would be a lightened flywheel and a stage 2 clutch or something along the line.

IMHO, if your going to be beating on the car.. even here and there your going to need a better clutch setup than OEM. I recently purchased an ''XTD'' clutch kit off of ebay (made by os giken, i believe the same company that makes OEM honda clutches) and The clutch engages very smoothly and grabs nice.. Way cheaper than you would find an act clutch kit, or exedy. And would be perfect for daily driving and still reliable for abuse.

Re: (JDMFreak)
My boy has a hatch with a JDM B20 (1999 production date) and GSR tranny. He has a centerforce clutch on the stock flywheel. He runs a cheapie header, intake, and a custom 2.5 exhaust.
The B20's make alot of torque, and with a GSR trans they aren't bad. He rev's his to 7k for over two years now...not a hint of problems.
Here's an old vid of the car racing a 94 Talon front wheel drive turbo runnin like 15psi. Don't mind the titles here and there...it was part of an inside joke.

Re: (RC000E)
Nice vid, and with those little mods I think thats awesome that he won against a turbo eclipse. Im sure if the hatch was boosted it would have won by 2-3 cars. I have to get my hands on a clutch kit and flywheel fast. My b20z is going in my 00 si this weekend, I wonder how it will feel compared to the stock b16.

i think they are identical...but one thing concerns me is... is there a difference between auto motors and manually motors.

His B20 is getting pressurized here shortly. The torque from that motor with an onset of boost in the upper rpms will be the makings of a hell of a fun street car.
The difference your going to feel versus your B16 is a hell of alot more torque making for an easier around town car to drive, but the downside will be your B16 will feel alot faster up top. You'll just have to see to form your own opinion.
