Remove the drain bolt, it's the one with a square imprinted in the bolt that you can just stick the head of the ratchet in. Clean off the magnet on the drain bolt while you wait for it to drain. Put the bolt back on when it is done draining.

Get a long funnel and stick it in the hole where you pulled the dipstick out and fill it up with HONDA ATF. I forget exactly how much it needs to be filled, it's in the cars manual. Once you got the fluid right, start her up and shift the gear lever all the way up and down the gears slowly. Then check the fluid again. Make sure you don't have too little or too much.

That should be it, make sure you check it frequently after you change it to make sure your not leaking.

I think there's a drain plug to drain it, and you fill it up through the dipstick hole. That's how I remember doing it on my old Prelude automatic. Hope this helps!

there should be a lower drain plug and an upper filling hole. the dipstick hole method sounds a bit tedious and not likely.... at least in all my dealings with transmissions

hmm, I know the manuals have one but I don't think the automatics do. I'll have to double check on that...

Not sure, but I saw a trick for the D16 Trannys, that you pull the TPS sensor, and fill it there. Its faster than using the dipstick.

But that may not be the case for your later model.

Probably really low 5-7lbs. And shouldn't he use a new washer?

this exactly except not the TPS (throttle position sensor) and more so the speed sensor. one ten mill bolt. also a straight shot for a funnel!!

through the dipstick hole... why would you put it anywhere else? no bolts hold the dipstick in, making it the easies way to fill.

manual trans. have a fill hole on the side above the drain... not same with automatics.

3-12... that's how much fluid for a drain and refill. 3qts - 12oz. pour one bottle in, leaving 12oz in the bottle. if you pour too much, you can just pour from one of the two others into the first to make 12 left over. then empty the remaining two.

it's not a toyota so you don't have to run it through the gears to check the level. pour in, check it.

the plug has an aluminum washer as a seal, so tighten as much as you would an oil drain plug.
