Anyone here ever order a brand new b16a?
anyone here ever buy a complete B16 shortblock from Honda? What does it come with? The dealership wasn't even sure if they could actually order the short block assembly as they've never done that for 5+ year old car.
The picture of the assembly looks as if it has the oil pan attached but I wasn't sure if there was a water pump with and oil pump along with the oil pressure sensor.
any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

the short block assembly (bottom end only) cost about $2700 the cylinder head assembly is about $4700!
I couldn't believe how expensive the head was! No lie the guy at Honda showed me the price. Murder to say the least. I guess if you added up the retail cost of each part then I guess maybe not so bad but still... pricey

for that much...you should ask yourself if a b16 shortblock is worth it.
can't you buy majority of parts to do a K swap for the price of a new b16 head?

For 7400 you could easily have a built B16-T that would be reliable and would put down some nice numbers and still be able to DD its ***

Or anything less than a Kseries or built B18c/B18C5 for 5K. ****, you could even buy a dead motor and have it machined and re-built for less than 5.

Re: Anyone here ever order a brand new b16a? (95ProjectEJ1)
yeah its stupid expensive.
All in all I guess Honda only holds onto a few of these spare b16's from the factory as a warranty swap out but since the car is already 7+ years old i doubt anyone would just want to walk in to buy. Like some have said you can buy a type R motor with everything for less money and its complete.

on a similar note... my friend from autozone said that they sell motors. b16 from a 00 si for 2700 bucks. type-r motor was like 5000 or something close to that.

It's still a reman though. Just buy a used up motor and build it just like everyone else here does.

Fixed.
Used up makes it sound like it's at the end of it's life.
Honda motors at 20-60k miles have plenty o' life left.

Oh, god of all things honda, please show us the path to righteousness and we will not stray from it. May your supreme knowledge of VTEC shine upon us, so that we may be more like you.
I said "used up" and that is exactly what I meant. Jeez, if I wanted to be corrected I would talk to my mother. Geek.
