mine are painted black on my 99 ek it works good just get the plastic sheild nice and warm before you take it off

No, you shouldn't paint the chrome part around the headlight bulb, so it won't affect light output.

i was also looking into this
but is there any way to make the stock 99 headlights look any where as close to the ctr ones? i kno you can buty the ones with black housing
just not sure if theres anyway to make them look like real ctrs
and btw where can you buy real ctr headlights

Thats what i am looking for i contacted 3 places that do black chrome work and they said they could do that one coat of trans poweder coating gives you the smoked effect but u can still see the chrome thats what iam looking for.

this is the closest I have found paint wise. It's Ace's Bronze refinisher paint
