Any info on the zc motor 2000 civic chassis
Ok, so i have a Honda civic 2000 hatchback that i bought i while back. For some reason the is not a lot of info on this motor, except for 89 integras. So, i assume this motor is rare or its a swap, but i can almost guarantee this is not a swap. Why? Because this car doesn't even have a catalytic converter and i don't even think it had one before. I was wondering if the head on this 2000 chassis is a y7 head? Anyways, this motor has a hole in it because of a flood that happened a while back because the air intake sucked it in and was riding with small wheels (bad luck!). I am just curious to know if anybody knows anything about this motor?

Google is absolutely your friend.
ZC is equivalent to 1.6. That's it. There are many forms of it in both SOHC and DOHC that spans from the 1980's through 2000 (possibly past in some markets). Just to keep it simple what you have is basically the same thing as a D16Y7/8 depending on if that's VTEC.

Re: Any info on the zc motor 2000 civic chassis
most likely. someone had a spun bearing or something in the lower end. and went dirt cheap and had or got a zc block free or cheap to put his y7 head on and get the car running again.

Stop saying it's "definitely stock". It may or may not be. See that green thing to the left of the block stamp? Clean that off, and tell us the first 6 places of the stamp on it. Now, look at the VIN on your dash. Tell us the first 6 places of that stamp. That also may or may not be a Y7 head. You haven't posted the head code anywhere for us to answer that. It could be a different head with a Y7 valve cover on it. It doesn't have a Y7 intake manifold, either. What you have there is a pile of parts slapped together.
PS: Your distributor cap also has a hole in it.

you have a catalytic converter. --its the y7 exhaust manifold/cat conv all in one. The O2 sensor is sticking out of it.

that is a jdm obd-2 zc y7 equivalent replacement engine. the green tag is the trans vin, irrelevant to motor. ZC/D16A SOHC Non VTEC Engine only 96-00 - Honda & Acura

Re: Any info on the zc motor 2000 civic chassis
to add more info- that exhaust manifold is from a 92-95 civic dx/lx/ex. more likely than not, someone moved the cat under the car, because replacing the cat on manifold system is cost prohibitive. that motor behaves very similarly to a y7, which is the block you should source. an engine swap is out of the question for you, since your car is automatic. for example, if you wanted to swap in a y8 AND stay auto, you'd need a full y8 swap with the auto trans, as the y7 ecu will not correctly operate a y8 trans and vice versa.

Re: Any info on the zc motor 2000 civic chassis
originally a y7.
y7 failed.
then replaced with this: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30023
basically a y7 with a y8 intake manifold. rated at 120-130 hp depending on who you ask.
even the original y7 catalyst is on there....

<p>ZC SOHC non-vtec came with a Y8 style manifold. Most of the motors I've seen for sale on HMO and other sites show the y8 style manifold, not the y7. </p><p> </p><p>Also, according to wikipedia: </p><p> </p><p>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine#ZC</p><p> </p><p>

A few D-series variants are labelled <strong>(Japanese: Honda ZC engine)</strong> (usually JDM), but they are not truly a different series. They are similar to the D16Y4, D16A8, D16Z6, D16A1, D16A3, D16A6, D16A9 and D16Z5 engines.</p><p>There are both SOHC and DOHC ZC engines. The non-VTEC SOHC ZC is similar to the D16A6 ('91–'96) and D16Y4 ('96–2000) engine, but with more aggressive cam timing. The SOHC VTEC ZC is similar to the D16Z6 ('91–'96). On the zc motor
Is it a swap? I doubt it.
No catalytic was on it
Adapted a catalytic way in the back lol

what is everyone not getting here? it is not "like a z6", the distributor connector is obd-2b, not "like a z6". it is a jdm replacement non vtec 1.6, most similar to a d16y7. it isn't rare, it has been swapped, and it is irrelevant regardless. the block has a hole in it.
