Icon2 Another cel code question... chk engine light stays on when using jumper wire.

well my car was throwing some cel codes. I fixed what was wrong. then I reset the ECU, after i took my car for a ride I checked if i still had the same cel codes. now the check engine light doesnt throw any codes, it just stays on when i use the jumper wire and turn the ignition switch to the "on" position. does the light staying on means that everything is ok or is there like a "0" cel code?

actually, when you jump the connector 1 of 2 things happen: it blinks or stay solid.

you are right..with a solid cel, it means either no codes are present or the ecu is fried.

does you srs light blink at a constant rate while the cel is solid?

Yup, if your codes are gone, it will stay solid as the SRS light blinks.

thanks for the replies everybody. well i use the jumper wire again and these is what exactly happens.
-i turn ignition switch to the on position.
-cluster lights come up as usual, oil light, battery light, hand brake light, seat belt light,
-check engine light stays on
NOW THESE IS WHAT SOME OF YOU ASK, THE SRS LIGHT STAYS "ON" only DURING THE 6 BEEPS THE CAR DOES AFTER YOU TURN THE KEY;THEN IT GOES AWAY, DOESNT BLINK OR ANYTHING AFTER THAT IT JUST GOES AWAY.
-the rest of the lights including the check engine light keep staying on.

now does any ECU from a 5th gen civic will do, or do i have to look for my same model, wich is a 92 si hatch.
another thing is that i dont really feel anything wrong with my car maybe a little shaky idling from time to time. shouldnt a fried ECU be given me more problems than just the car being a little shaky?

thank you again for the replies.

you're going to want to use the same ECU from a 92-95 civic, P28 from an Si or EX model

ok ill try to get a hold of an ECU, might be kind of hard to just "borrow" one. ppl around here only like to sell stuff and i dont really want to buy one if mine ends up being fine. and I was wrong my car is idling rough i took it for a ride and when it gets hot starts shaking and the exhaust doesnt have that steady purrr sound, it has a hesitating sound and the car shakes along with it (sorry but thats the best way a cud explain). and there's a burning smell not like gas but something else it comes from the engine bay.
