Re: Alternator
The Denso alternators specifically state they may be rebuilt by a subsidiary of Denso and not Denso themselves. So yaay China

Re: Alternator
Man I got my old alternator out. It wasnt as bad as I thought but wasnt as easy as I was expecting. That bottom bolt was a **** to remove. PB blast and WD-40 finally got it out. I will be putting in the new one tomorrow and hopefully isnt as bad as the removal. Also does anyone know how to put the AC belt back on. I had to cut it to remove the alt belt. I couldnt figure out how to take it out. Now i have to put a new one on.

Loosen 14-mm idler pulley center nut.
Loosening 10-mm adjuster loosens belt by lowering idler pulley.

Re: Alternator
Even though the pulley turns with the center nut, can the nut be removed if you keep turning it?
If necessary, you may be able to loosen the two 12-mm mounting bolts on the idler pulley bracket.

Re: Alternator
The adjusting bolt goes through a cross-drilled hole in the back of the stud that goes through the pulley to the nut. If you have an adjusting bolt in place, the stud can't turn.

Re: Alternator
Sorry mk, that's incorrect. The center nut must be loosened prior to loosening the adjusting bolt.

Re: Alternator
I think what mk is referring to is that if you completely removed the 10mm head adjustment bolt (or at least backed it out far enough that it no longer makes contact with any threads inside the back of the idler pulley stud) first, as in before you loosened the 14mm pulley adjuster nut, you would lose the ability to stabilize the idler pulley stud. Therefore, if you then try to loosen the adjuster nut, the whole assembly may in fact turn and essentially never loosen. Re-inserting the adjustment bolt would stabilize the idler pulley stud and you can then loosen the adjuster nut.

Re: Alternator
Well job complete. My honda is up and running. Its runs a lot better. It wasn't fun at all. The only issue I have is my radio isn't working everything else is. I checked fuses, power, connections everything checks out. Anyone have any ideas.

Re: Alternator
I checked the wrong fuse. My radio fuse so blown i replaced radio is good. After doing all that work on replacing my Alt all 3 belts I noticed my Battery is on but very dim. I didnt even notice it until it got dark outside. I talked to some other Honda civic owners who replaced the Alt, and they said same thing happened to them. They said the shop told them its becuase its a new Alt and the ECU is processing the old Alt info. They also said the shop said they should try and reset the ECU and if that doesnt work they will probably have to replace the ECU. I dont know if thats true or not. My car runs fine the Alt and Battery are brand new and tested good.. All my belts are tight etc..

Re: Alternator
Man this dim battery light thats on in my car is starting to annoy me big time. Car has run fine no issues at all the last week. I've been doing some deep research on this and found very little info. I've checked everything in my car from the fuses to voltage and amperage and everything checks out. I have a Denso alternator and I thought these things were rock solid for Honda's. I do know most of the power for that battery light is in the Alternator and I'm thinking I need to get another one. I dont know what else to check. My battery is brand new.
