like it says, the only thing ive done it get new rims, went from 16in to 15. checked the tire pressure all good. and a CTR rear wing. car is 97 ek hatch with stock motor. im at like almost 100 miles on my tank and its almost halfway empty, my last fill up i barley got 260miles on a full tank and i used to get 300, i thought that the wing might decrease it but not this much?

the bigger wheels will effect your gas mileage also, whens the last time you replaced the fuel filter? spark plugs? They have a lot to do with your gas mileage

^^ he went from bigger to smaller, so should be lighter ( helps fuel mileage ).

Is it your first winter with the car ? , I find when the temps drop I loose 10-15 % fuel mileage .

What would cause the cold weather to affect the mpg? Just wondering cause I'm starting to get horrible gas millage too and looking for a cure.

the colder the air the more fuel the ecu will send the the engine to keep it running smoothly, which is why hypermillers will try to have there car sucking in the hottest air possible, better mpg.

Gas companies reformulate their gas during the winters and this will affect MPGs also. Be sure your tires are inflated properly.

OP, do a tune up.

The most common reason for reduced mileage during the cold winter is the longer time it takes the engine to warm up. Until the engine is fully warm, the ECU runs the engine in open loop, which is a rich fuel mixture.

A block heater can definitely help with this. Have it kick on an hour before you leave in the morning. I added one to my VX, and it made a huge difference in warmup time.

They're pretty cheap, and relatively easy to install. Just gotta remember to plug/unplug it (having a timer on the outlet makes life easier, too.)
