Air Conditioner Problem with Civic, help please....
Just a quick question. When I first tun on my car in the morning and then I turn the AC on, my car makes a really lound sqeaking noise like nails on a blackboard. This goes on for about a minute or two. This only happens if the AC is on, sounds like a belt or something is whining, how can I fix this?

Well it could be one of two things that I know of...
1) The A/C compressor pulley: Spray some belt dressing on it and tighten the bolt in the middle of the pulley.
2) A/C compressor itself: This is the more likely problem. The compressor is starting to seize up inside and is having trouble turning for the first two minutes or so. This is kinda a big expense when it comes to maintenance, though it's pretty easy on an EK because it's right up front. Looking at the fact that your name is silverb18, i highly doubt you have a stock engine in your car, though. So, I'm not sure where your compressor would be located.
Hope this helps. If you have connections with a garage or mechanic, it would help out just to get a true idea. Try fixing #1 and if the problem persists, swap the belt. If it still persists, I would say compressor, but don't quote me on that, as I cannot be totally without first seeing what's going on in person.

Do NOT spray the belt cos the belt must always be as dry as possible...
Try to tighten the belt but NOT much... just a turn or two on the tensioner... or simply replace the belt
The best way to go is with a bit shorter belt... it usually uses 4PK825 but I use 4PK820...

OK guys, I got some belt dressing and sprayed all over the belt when the car was running to make sure it was nice, but it still squeals really loud. THis only happens the first time I start my car up in the morning with the AC on, if the AC is off it will not happen, it only happens once a day but it is still annoying any other thoughts?

someone told me that you're supposed to turn off your ac before you turn your car off and not to have the ac on when you start the car. its supposed to be bad for the compressor.

It has nothing to do with oil in the system... it has to do with the belt...
And if I remember correctly, I told you NOT TO SPRAY THE BELT cos you won't achieve anything and everyone here told you I was wrong...
It seems I WAS RIGHT... I know what I am talking about...
Not every squeek and squeel can be solved with WD40 or dressing... majority of them can be but when it comes to belts, it is the best that they are clean and dry... it is another story with the belts who had teeth... spray worked on them...
But you are dealing with the MicroV belt and if you spray it you are risking the belt slippage and similar sh*t... of course, a little dressing won't hurt, but it won't solve your problem...
Just tighten the belt correctly...
Your belt must be 4PK825... if you change it, buy 1/5 of an inch smaller belt, like 4PK820 and tighten it correctly and that should solve your problem...
Before you change it, make sure you clean the pulleys and the tensioner... make sure that everything is straight forward and I think you will solve it...
I hope I helped...

for civicman92
the reason 1 2 do not work on your heater blower is because the resistor has gone.
if you remove the glove box and i think it is on the top of the heater box you will find a small rectangle bolted in i think it is with 2 10mm bolts.
take this out and replace it, it will look like a peace of wire coiled around.
this is a comman problem
