Default Afew ?'s with my new swap.

When its cold outside I start my car and it sounds a little rough give it a little gas then it clears up. It will idle at 1500 for a few mins then when car is warm it goes to about 850 rpms. I changed my tranny fluid and since I did when the car is cold its hard to get in to gear but as soon as i do its fine no grinds shifts smooth. do you think i need tranny fluid in it? I filled it up untill it started to come out of the fill hole but my car was not level when i did the cahnge it was on jack stands could i have not put enough fluid in? i used 10w 30

The motor is a b16a2 my ecu is a p28 the transmission starts with s80.

I am not throwing any codes could i have a prob with the map or tps and not throw a code?

how tight should my timing belt be I took my car to a well known import shop and they said i needed to tighten muy timinmg belt. after they did i started hearing a whoring noise from it i took it back cause i think they got it to tight. do you guys know how much deflection the belt should have when i brought it to them i had about 3/4 to an inch of deflection now it has about 1/4 inch. let me know peeps please need some help

oh yeah the tranny prob with it going into gear is only when first started and when i put it to reverse then try to go into another gear. but after i drive the car for a while like go to the store when i put it into reverse it all works fine.

First of all, the car will idle high during a cold start to warm up the motor. When it has reached normal operating temp, the idle will go down.

The transmission is hard to shift at startup because the transmission is lubricated and there is no pump for the oil in it. It relys on the gears moving to get the oil around the tranny and to the essential parts...so it won't work as well at startup as it will after the oil has had time to slosh around in the trans.

I hope its a chipped P28 for a B16, because that ecu is designed for a SOHC VTEC motor.

You should be able to twist the timing belt 90 degrees on the long side.

i usually put the gear in reverse and then into 1st before i take off when i first start the car up. it seems to go into reverse a lot smoother when i do that.
