AEM doesn't make brake pads. They get some company in Indonesia or wherever to manufacture them then they stick their label on them.
Go with a company that does nothing but R&D on friction components like Hawk, EBC, Performance friction, etc. I have EBC Green Stuff for the street, I'm pleased.

from what i know nissin makes the pads for aem
nissin makes the calipers for spoon
and nissin make the calipers and pads for stock honda civic/integs
i used aem pads for street use and i think they work pretty good
the most help though to stopping power is to get some ss lines

Re: AEM Brake Pad ** Good ? *** (SleeperEG6)
The AEM pad is a good quality pad for daily driving and 'spirited' driving. They are quite durable and long lasting. I've taken them to 2 lapping events and they offer decent performance. Their biggest advantage is that they don't dust like other brands.
However, if you are into auto-x or road race, I would recommend Porterfield R4S. They are a little pricey but have excellent initial bite (ideal for auto-x). I've used them at numerous auto-x's and a lapping event. They dust like crazy.
So my conclusions are:
-if you are into looks and want a pad better than stock get AEM
-if you are into performance and not into looks get Porterfield
I am not sure how much the AEMs are (I used to work there) but I think they retailed for like $50 for the front or rear. The Porterfield R4S sells for like $70-$100.
Also, SleepEG6, if you are the guy that was going to buy that JDM Civic HVAC control, I've erased that link a long time ago. If you aren't the guy, then don't worry.
