Default Advice onSkunk2 Pro S Coilovers Part no.541-05-5720-002 for a Del Sol

Hey Guys, I have a 95 Del Sol SI, and I'm looking for a good suspension setup. Is there anybody here on Honda-Tech with a Del Sol that can give me their opinion on this setup. The budget taps out at 800. if anybody has anything else on their Del Sol please let me know your setup, price, and opinion on your choice.

I had the Pro-S on my 92 integra. Some people say it's too bouncy... compared to my current setup of illuminas/ground control, yeah they are bouncy but its nothing excessive like they make it out to be. I found it was a solid setup.

EDIT* I'm actually debating them for the EK I will be buying soon.

I like them, as long as you don't drop it too much it won't be terribly bouncy. The performance more than makes up for the little bit of bounce they add.

However if you slam the car with this setup they will ride like garbage...

the max drop is 3 inches? is that correct? can somebody confirm this.
I have never experienced coilovers, I am more of a tein stechs with stock shocks type of guy. is the setup im considering any better or is the same bounciness or stiffness. which is a better route for me to take on lowering the Sol?

I'm not sure on the max drop mine is about 1.5". In regards to the Stechs the skunk2 pro s coilovers will handle much much much better but will be significantly bouncier...

If you look on eBay, you can find Koni Yellows and Ground Controls for a reasonable price. I just checked, and there are Ground Controls for $285, shipped. Koni Yellows are $521, shipped. You'd be $6 over your budget, but I would say it's worth it. Just in the last week I finally got mine on my car, replacing the Skunk2 coilovers that were in the front, and damn, it rides nice.

Ground Control sells some coilovers meant for Konis, but I'm not sure what the difference is. I am using the ones meant for all the other brands, and they work fine together.

I know I am not much help regarding your Skunk2 Pro S shocks, but I'm just chiming in with my preference and experience.

Thanks I appreciate all the info you have provided me. I am just the "buy everything together (Complete Kit) type of guy" but I'm going to have to start doing more research.
anybody else would like to share their experience?

what about skunk2 springs and the skunk2 sport shocks? will that be less bouncy than the Pro S Coilover setup? and are there any other differences in the way the car would ride or handle?

A little more to add, regardless of what you get. Shock boots aren't a bad idea. Hey, they spruce up the way the shocks look and provide a little protection. Jegs has universal fit ones from Energy Suspension for like $6 a pair, which beats the $25 a piece Advance auto wanted. The ES ones are too long, but I just cut them down and they work. I think Amazon had some for like $4 each.
With the Koni/GC setup, all I needed in addition to them was bump stops, the little brackets on the front shocks that the brake line mounts to (hammered on and off with a brass drift punch), and new bolts for the rear. I used grade 8 hardware, and cut the nuts off the shocks that were welded on. Your old bolts may work, but I wanted new.

The skunk2 springs may have a different spring rate. I'm not real familiar with all of their stuff, so it's just an idea.

The skunk2 springs and shocks will give you slightly better performance than stock with none of the bounciness. I went with the pro-s coilovers for performance and ride height adjustability. I was willing to sacrifice some ride quality...

I'll be trying some Function and Form coilovers on the EK I'm buying soon, if you're patient I can give you a non-biased review and compared them with Illumina/GC and Skunk2 Pro-S
