Advantages?
We're puttin in my h22 into my civic, and i was advised to get a Lightened Flywheel. I AM gettin a SPEC Stage 1 clutch, but i'm not sure about the flywheel. Obviously it'll be a lot easier to put it in with the motor already out, and I can get it new and installed for $190. Is that a good deal?
Also, what is a lightened flywheel really gonna improve? Do i really need it?
Thanks.

Need more info. Is it an aftermarket flywheel? Or is it just a machined stock one? Ask those questions, then get back to us. Are you doing your own swap? You can really do a flywheel by yourself if the motor is just sitting there.
You obviously do not NEED it, but I like mine alot. My car seems to rev up a lot quicker then it used to. I have the 8.8 lb Exedy Flywheel.

Re: (diearzte2)
Ah Yea, it's also made by SPEC, and i think they said it was around maybe 7 or 8lbs too. I know the stock one was around 10lbs more.
As far as the swap, I'm not doing it by myself, but i won't be charged to do it since it's right there to do with the motor out like you said.
I had just heard that it would kill your torque and acceleration out of the hole. Is that true? I know it'll prolly give me better response when i floor it when i'm already goin down the interstate or something, but i don't wanna kill my punch from a complete stop. I've also been told that you have to give your car a LOT more gas when you start off when you have one.????
Thanks man.

It depends on what kind of racing you want to do. For drag, I would not go with a super light flywheel. It makes it almost impossible to get a good launch. You rev it extremly high, then when the tree turns, your rpms just shoot down and you get a horrible launch.
