Default ACT clutch

iight guys i need some help. i got an 01 civic EX, with your usually AEM intake, DC-S headers, and greddy exhaust.. but i need a new clutch, and since i'm doing that i'm going to spring for a flywheel as well. i was looking at ACT, but should i spring for the Xtreme or just the HD. and someone told that i should get either the 4 or 6 puck racing disc.. but i don't think my car is ready for all that.. with so many ways to go i thought i would ask for a lil advice..

Thats a brand new car and u need a clutch already??

Clutchmaster stage 1 or 2 street clutch is more then enough.
Dont get the 4/6 puck..
That Clutch is way to grabby for a motor like that..and could ruin or tranny.. and also your leg..

iight y0...

act hdss with the 8.8lb prolite flywheel is great. i couldn't be happier with mine .... well .. maybe if the flywheel was lighter. don't ever let anybody tell you that light flywheels aren't good for daily driving. they're nothing but great.

holla

(when you say things like that, it just makes you look stupid.)

I bought mine from an HT member in the classifieds, you can't beat $250 for a brand new ACT clutch with bearings and all.

I bought mine from a local shop.

I don't understand why you'd need a new clutch with only those mods. You either need to learn to drive a stick properly or learn to save your money. If you're definitely set on buying a clutch, do NOT overdo it! Stick with something simple. No need for some stiff clutch when you only have bolt-ons. The HDSS will be more than enough for your needs.

IMO you cannot beat ACT quality.

I recommend the ACT Heavy Duty pressure plate with their modified street disc.

I've had an ACT Xtreme p.p with the modified street disc in my wife's B16A2 since 2000 and it still grabs hard enough to bark third sometimes.

Clutch Masters sucks *** IMO, and puck style clutch discs destroy transmissions. I've ruined 3 Type R trannies with a puck type disc, so I learned my lesson.

I've had my ACT HDSS in two motors, for a total of 15,000 miles, some of them track, but mostly aggresive streat driving. I havent had a probelm in that time,
and it held my all motor B16 power with no problems at all for last summer. This past summer has been 300 whp everyday and have never had it slip, or chatter. I sell them weekly to B series owners, and have had one come back with problems in the last two years, and that was in a drag car with some MT slicks. Good clutch.

i had the hdss in my old z6, it was fine for daily driving(also had the streetlite fly). i would reccommend the hdss or the exedy organic, along with a nice light flywheel such as a act prolite. if you are considering forced induction in the future, this would be a good time to get a beefy clutch, but that depends on where you want to go with your car. as i said, daily driving go with act or exedy
