regardless of OEM or ACL bearings, you should check the clearances anyway.

you shouldn't have to unless you have an aftermarket crank. oem crank that is within specs will fit oem-spec ACL bearings. Like I said, when installing, check the clearances to be sure they're not too tight or too loose. That's more important.

you'll have to get the bearings shimmed and/or block line-honed. this is not a job for a beginner.

Which is why I like the honda color coded bearings.

If you haven't spun a bearing or anything then you should be able to run the std size. It is always a good idea to check clearences to make sure. Just use some plasti-gauge and see.

Unless he knows what to do with the plasti-gauge, it won't do much help suggesting him to use it. I assume he doesn't know how to check the clearances, that's why he's wondering what he should do if it's too loose/too tight.

yea ill let the machine shop deal with that. im gettin it bored 81.5 on stock sleeves. i might even go 82mm cuz i can get eagle h beam and aries 9:1 PISTONs for 200 but havent fully decided yet. but ima have them to bore it, balance the crank and make sure the head is not warped or somehtin. But yea im excited for this build. just ordered parts yestereday. would an oem 81mm hG fit on a 81.5mm bore? what about a 82mm bore?

The machine shop should be able to help you with all your question, that's what your paying them for.

Yes it's good to check here, but you should have started that a week and more ago.

Did you order the HG from Rob at Golden Eagle ?

Robert@goldeneaglemfg.com

He can answer all your questions. Tell him I sent you.

The STD size may fit a little bit loose. I think they are the equivalent of honda green bearings. Take your time and get a machine shop to do some measuring for you and just order the correct color coded ones from honda.

Here's a link to a thread Earl had with the color/thickness chart:

You would need to go with an 81.5 or 82mm head gasket, depending on which bore you go with. If not then there will be gasket material hanging over the cylinder. Just get yourself a nice Cometic gasket.
