Default AC problem. Need help. Its hot in paradise.

My ac compressor is surging.
Clutch goes on off on off repetitively. Like a surge.
It blows cold but is drawing power from the motor.

When i first start it its fine. Then i rev and hold it at 2000 rpm.
Then on off on off on off on off.

I checked all the relays and fuses. They are all good.
The low pressure is fine. Cant check the high pressure.

Its a 1996 civic coupe.

a/c blowing will "drain" some power from your motor, and as long as its not feeling like its going to stall out while driving i think you are ok. you could always see if a new/different compressor helps. yours may or may not be on its way out.

autozone ftw for stuff like this

edit: nvm still expensive as **** from autozone

I don't think you can avoid the power draw but the compressor surging could mean your system needs a charge.

I checked it with the gauge that comes with the refill can at wal mart and it says its good. (only able to check low pressure) I may have to borrow a friends set of ac gauges.

Yeah it is nice but then it starts to rain. Then the windows fog up. And if i use the heater it gets worse only the ac helps prevent the windows from fogging.

Mine use to do the same thing. I added some oil to seal the unit and then put in some freon. It was frigid cold. If it doesn't last, you could need o-rings or have a slow leak.

Check the condenser fan, I had a similar problem with AC clutch bouncing around. The fan should be on when the AC is on.

i dont think i have a leak. The system still has normal pressure.

the fan comes on like normal.

Could it be that it has too much pressure?
Or the reciever dryer is clogged? I noticed a sensor on it and when i disconnect it the clutch goes off.
