Icon2 ? about v-tec and speed odometer

i recently purchased a 1999 honda civic si w/ a b16a jdm swap and the speedodomer isn't working and some of my buddys told me that if it doesnt work that the v-tec isnt going to work. the check engine light is on but isnt throwing up the speed sensor . sometimes the speedodometer does work and doesnt it has a mind of its own. my oil pressure is high i replaced the oil put new tranny fluid in there and everything i could possibly do. but still no v-tec or speedodometer. if i dont make sense to you . you can message me and i will try to explain better the best i can do. but please help out. thanx btw its obd2 and it has a stock si cluster in it

What CEL codes are being thrown?

Does the odometer and tripmeter work? If so, the speedometer itself is probably faulty.

Have you already tried cleaning the screen in the VTEC solenoid?

Click on the forum CEL sticky so that you can read the code(s). Post the codes to get feedback.

Disconnect the VSS connector to see whether it is loose or corroded.

Some carburetor cleaner should do the trick on a clogged screen.

you're better off replacing it if you're going to take it off.
its cheap, and easy to replace.
