99 LX dies continuously
99 LX, auto, stock. 148k miles. Car starts cold and runs perfectly after temps under the hood start to get warm it'll die. Engine just turns off. Once it cools down it'll start up and do the same thing, how ever it will not restart when it's still warm have to let things cool off first. If I leave the hood open it'll sit and run for ever but you close the hood and in a few minutes it'll shut off. At one point when it wouldn't restart I cracked a fuel line open and it has plenty of pressure, so not a fuel pump, I did how ever seem to lose spark so I thought maybe the distributer was crapping out (original) so I put a new one in and car does the same thing. Car doesn't throw any faults have a basic scanner and it always comes up empty.
Very knew new to Honda and looking to make this my new daily. Car is currently 25 or 30 miles away from me so getting up there to work on it I always seem to be forgetting to bring something else lol.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check whether the hood 7.5A Back Up fuse is blown.
Also try unplugging the primary O2 sensor to see whether the problem is eliminated for test purposes.

Hahaha ok, yeah but if any fuse that powers something run by the ECM is bad then it'll be messed up the it'll throw a code and or be cause the car to throw a fault.
Ive seen a lot of bad O2 sensors but never seen one stall a car....

Re: 99 LX dies continuously
So Honda has a fuse for ECM memory? Is that what your saying? Cause I've never seen that.
Unplugging an O2 sensor, aside from setting a fault and showing the ECM can turn the light on sure. It's just not gonna stall the car. A crank sensor maybe, the MAF maybe but this car doesn't have one it has a map sensor, which maybe that would stall the car..... Been a while since I worked on a speed density system. But I'll try it, wth at least it could tell me if the scanner or ECM are bad.
Anybody else have any ideas?

I guess you're right again. If you don't know about it, it surely doesn't exist, just like your radio station memory.
It's amazing that somebody with your great knowledge would lower himself to create a thread asking for help. It must be a little embarrassing lowering yourself like this, though the internet does offer you anonymity.

Re: 99 LX dies continuously
And I was legitamitly asking you if Honda had a fuse for ECM memory only. I'm not saying it doesn't I'm just saying that is a new one. And I also said I would try what you suggested hence the "But I'll try it". By asking if anyone else had ideas I wast trying to blow you off I was honestly asking, as I said the in the first place the car isn't in my driveway so I can't run outside and try what's suggested right away. No need to attack people's intelligence by saying that cause I never saw it it doesn't exist.

Re: 99 LX dies continuously
exactly wat eghatch said
most likely your dizzy
when its cold the connection is touching, once it gets hot the metals expand and doesnt touch anylonger
like ronJ said get a multimeter to test
or if u got a friend who has a 99-00 civic (NON SI/HX) running for sure swap the dizzy n go for a long drive
