Icon3 99 Civic loses Power- please help

99 Civic EX 5speed coupe.

Speedometer needle was bouncing while on the highway, then it stopped working. Started losing power, stereo shut off, I had the gas pedal to the floor and it wouldn't accelerate. All of this happened within 5 minutes. So I changed the alternator. Then I rechanged in 20 days because the same problem occurred AGAIN. I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and car shut off RIGHT after I installed new alternator. Codes P1298, P0135, P0500, & P0141....I know there was a recall with the wiring harness near the intake manifold, but my car's VIN # didnt fall in that category and I didnt see anything burned or messed up when I changed intake manifold for performance. I did notice o2 sensor wiring was burned (the one under the car near where the headers and cat meet. I disconnected it and I still have the same problem. Also AC is not working properly. AC only gets cold when I am accelerating on highway. But when I am at a complete stop, only hot air comes out. And when I am at a complete stop, with AC on, it idles near 500 rpm. Please Help! ThankYou!

Check whether fuse 15 is blown. It sounds like the O2 sensor heater element wire has a short that needs to be fixed.

By the way, only one thread is allowed per topic.

All the codes came up at the same time... Both o2 sensors, speed sensor, & ELD...

Hello Mr. Chavez,

Why haven't you done this:

Put new Fuse 15.... P1298 code still comes up. I took it to Honda and they don't sell the ELD unit by itself (inside fuse box in engine compartment)... So I went on craigslist... I found an ELD but for an automatic civic... Does it matter whether civic is manual or automatic for the ELD?

Check fuse 15 for voltage.

The ELD rarely goes bad. I think you are wasting money buying an ELD.
