Default 99 civic ex MT - need help identifying engine noise - recording attached

This noise is coming from the engine area . It gets louder as I accelerate. It sounds almost like a buzzing alarm clock.

If any of you can help me diagnose it that would be great. Mechanic is closed and I can't miss work tomorrow so if I need to rent a car I need to figure that out tonight.

Attached mp3 is a recording of the noise.

Update - I've now noticed that turning the steering wheel also affects the rhythm of the noise. Also if I stop mid turn, the wheel starts very slightly jerking the wheel from left to right. The noise matches the rhythm of the jerking of the wheel.

The jerking is related to the wheel trying to pull back to center. When I think left and hold it, it jerks right and vice versa. Also the the noise follows the jerking movement towards center. So if I turn left the noise is on when it jerks to the right.

It sounds like it is coming from the drivers side near the area where the spark plugs go in and the belts are. I cannot tell if it is from one vs the other.

Do you have power steering on this car? Check to see if your power steering fluid is low/empty.

I'm assuming from the recording that your car makes this noise even when it's not moving.

Remove the power steering belt and see if the noise persists.
