99 center console in a 98??

99 center console in a 98??
i hate my 98 civic center console with the slide controls. i was wondering if its possible to swap one from a 99-00 into my car. it might be hard because the 99-00 one is digital and doesnt use the sliding mechanism. Did anyone do this??

You need to rewire the dash. The 99/00 climate controls are electric whereas the 96/98 are mechanical sliders. You have to use the dash harness from a 99/00 car, along with the actual pieces. You also have to get the 99/00 heater motor per it is electric. I believe that is about it besides a whole lot of labor. Feel free to correct me or add your insight.

it would be fun to do as a DIY project. ill try it. how much would the motor and wiring harness go for? i should be able to get everything from a wrecked Si right. does anyone have a thread or a website about this. there is one about everything else.

actually, there is an easier way to do it, ill post a full install when RR98DX teaches me, radioshack cirvos do the trick
