98 hx - exhaust separated in front of resonator
Ok driving my 98 hx and the exhaust seperated in front of the resonator, sounds like massive pos.
I currently have all my $ tied up w my side business so new exhaust isnt feasable.
I think there is a decent flange on the resonator still, if there is im going to reweld it back on if its still a salvageable piece. IF NOT and I end up having to take the resonator out will this effect anything? I dont mind a little more noise but i dont want to affect back pressure or possibly decrease fuel mileage (it matters to me) .
I am doing this saturday so any input would be appreciated

Re: 98 hx question
resonator is usually just there to help muffle sound a bit. if you don't mind the noise weld in a straight pipe. it probably wont decrease mpgs drastically if at all.

taking it out won't do anything aside from add some noise even the stock ones are straight threw.

Re: 98 hx - exhaust separated in front of resonator
$20, 1 pipe to adaptor welded, 2 clamps and 24" of pipe later its replaced, this must have been going for quite some time as there wasnt any clean metal break marks in front of the weld... The mysterious squeak under the car and hesitation on take-off are both gone.
i think it likes better back pressure
Thanks again guys

Re: 98 hx - exhaust separated in front of resonator
no pipe will just clamp over the whole thing as it transitions from 1 3/4" to about 2.5" back to 1 3/4" (or whatever stock is)
so yea thanks for the useless 1 line, non applicable answer you posted too
