Default 98 Honda Civic Q's

I just wanted to get everyones thoughts on this, is it worth it to spend the extra cash for the Vtec Civic 98, or just go with the lesser model if we are planning on doing a Swap probobly to a B18 , is their any advantages to the EX model than the others that make the swap easier or anything like that?

I would get the cx or dx if you are planning on racing. If you want the lightest 98 model go with the cx hatchback. i beleive it weighs in at 2236. and a dx coupe wighs in at 2262. not that much of a difference but every little bit helps.
here are all the car weights from 92 to 00
EG ----------------------------
Civic CX Hatchback 2108
Civic DX Hatchback 2178
Civic VX Hatchback 2094
Civic Si Hatchback 2390
Civic DX Coupe 2231
Civic EX Coupe 2443
Civic DX Sedan 2313
Civic LX Sedan 2376
Civic EX Sedan 2522
EK-------------------------------
Civic CX Hatchback 2238
Civic DX Hatchback 2253
Civic DX Coupe 2262
Civic HX Coupe 2313
Civic EX Coupe 2483
Civic DX Sedan 2319
Civic LX Sedan 2387
Civic EX Sedan 2518
Civic Si Coupe 2612

Do you care about the features such as sunroof, pw, pl, pm, cruise, and maybe ABS? If not, don't pay the extra $$$.

Yeah, if she wants all the power features and moonroof, than the EX may be worth it. But if all she's interested in is performance (and doesn't mind rolling windows and adjusting mirrors), then save the money and the extra weight and get a lower model coupe or hatch. Try finding just a shell somewhere. That way, you can probably get the swap and the car for the same or less money. If you're interested in an EX, I'm selling mine. It's a 98 silver EX Coupe w/ 70k miles (mostly highway), all the power features and moonroof, alarm w/ ignition kill, hood pin, and remote trunk, and a honda front lip. I'm asking $9600 OBO. I'm in San Fernando Valley. If you're interested, email me at jainikke@yahoo.com .

I bought my 98 EX coupe for the sunroof and power windows, I'm planning on dropping in a B18C and hope for mid 14's. I think thats is easily possible. But I'm not much of a racer (at least not Drag racing). I do the occasionsal trackday at Willow Springs and can hold my own with some of the other civics out there with swaps already so if she's not an all out racer and want the extra comfort features I think the EX would be fine. Plus its already wired up for vtec.

The question is.. do you want the creature comforts, or the bare neccesities. Then you decide.. I'm happy with cruise control, sunroof, power everything, and 14.2 down the 1/4 mile with a lil' ol' SOHC

If you are planning on swapping the engine than why get the deluxe model...and obviously you want an engine swap to make it faster so a lighter model would be nice.

the dx just doesn't have a tach and the seats are uncomfortable
